Your Northern Circuit Route Kilimanjaro adventure begins with a morning pickup from Moshi or Arusha, followed by a scenic drive to Londorossi Gate. After registration, you continue to the trailhead and start hiking through lush rainforest filled with ancient trees and wildlife. At day 1 there is gentle 3–4 hour trek allows your body to adjust to altitude. Dinner and overnight at Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp.
Leaving the forest behind, you ascend steadily into the heath and moorland zone, where wide views of the Shira Plateau begin to unfold. The trail is gradual, ideal for acclimatization. After 5–6 hours of trekking, you arrive at Shira 1 Camp, enjoying views of Kibo Peak. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3 involves an easy and scenic walk across the Shira Plateau, one of the highest plateaus on Earth. The terrain is mostly flat, making it an excellent acclimatization day. You will enjoy expansive alpine views before reaching Shira 2 Camp after 4–5 hours of hiking. Dinner and overnight at camp.
A crucial acclimatization day on the Northern Circuit Route, you climb toward Lava Tower, reaching 4,630 meters. After lunch, you descend slightly to the remote Moir Hut, located near the Lent Hills. Today at day 5 you officially join the Northern Circuit, trekking around the rarely visited northern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. The route offers stunning views toward Kenya and vast open landscapes. This 5–6 hour hike is quiet, scenic, and perfect for continued acclimatization. Dinner and overnight at Buffalo Camp.
The trail continues gently eastward across alpine terrain, with gradual ups and downs that help your body adjust to altitude. Panoramic views dominate this section of the climb. After 4–5 hours of Kilimanjaro trekking, you arrive at Third Cave Camp, where you rest and prepare for the summit phase. Dinner and overnight.
