Day 1. Moshi – Lemosho Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp
- Drive from Moshi to the Lemosho Gate
- Register with the park authorities.
- Begin the hike through lush rainforest
- Reach Mti Mkubwa Camp for the night-stay.

Day 2. Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 2 Camp
- Continue through the rainforest
- Gradually ascend to the heath zone
- Reach Shira 1 Camp located on the Shira Plateau

Day 3. Shira – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp

Day 4. Baranco Camp - Karanga Camp

- Traverse the Karanga Valley
- Reach Karanga Camp for the night

Day 5. Karanga Camp - Barafu Camp

Day 6. Barafu Camp - Uhuru Peak - Mweka Camp
- Begin the summit attempt very early (usually around midnight)
- Reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa
- Descend back to Barafu Camp
- Continue down to Mweka Camp for the night
